Compress an image to 20 KB
20 KB is one of the most common upload limits on job portals, exam registrations and government forms, usually for a photo or a signature. This page is set to 20 KB already: drop the image in and download a JPG that is at or under 20 KB. Nothing is uploaded.
Getting a clear picture into 20 KB
20 KB is small. A phone photo is usually 2–5 MB, more than a hundred times larger. To keep a face or a signature readable at that size:
- Crop first. A tight crop of the face or the signature leaves all of the 20 KB for what matters. The photo resizer and signature tool crop for you.
- Use a plain background. Flat white or light grey costs almost nothing; patterns and clutter eat the budget.
- Let it shrink. If the form does not demand exact pixel dimensions, leave “Keep width and height” unticked. A sharp 400-pixel photo looks better than a blurry 2000-pixel one.
When the form gives pixel dimensions too
Some forms say something like “photo 200 × 230 pixels, 20 KB maximum”. Make the exact size with the passport photo resizer (choose Custom size and type the numbers, then 20 in Max size). It does both in one step.
Need a different limit? Use the image to any KB tool, or the 50 KB and 100 KB pages.
