Compress an image to 100 KB

100 KB is a common limit for profile pictures, scanned ID cards and photos on visa, university and job portals. This page is set to 100 KB: drop the image in and download a JPG that fits. Your picture is not uploaded anywhere.

Why a 4 MB photo still looks good at 100 KB

Phone cameras save far more detail than a form needs. Lowering the JPG quality a little and reducing the pixel size to something like 1200 pixels wide removes data you would not notice on screen. The tool tries the highest quality first and only shrinks the picture when it must.

Good to know

  • The result is always a JPG, which every form accepts.
  • If your image is already under 100 KB, it is still saved as a JPG at high quality, so check the size shown before you upload.
  • Screenshots with text compress less well than photos. If text looks fuzzy, crop the screenshot to the part you need first.

Other limits: 20 KB, 50 KB, or any size. For PDFs, see PDF to a set size.
